DESCRIPTION
The film is a prequel to the story about the family we met in the movie hit “These Daughters of Mine” by Dębska. The plot takes place in the mid-1980s of the 20th century, at the time of the People’s Republic of Poland. We look at heroes who don’t have much and enjoy small things – from the perspective of three generations in one house. The director’s (and the writer of the script) gaze is tender and full of empathy for the characters, who live a fulfilling life despite the absurdities and “permanent-lack-of-everything” reality that surrounds them.

DIRECTOR
— KINGA DĘBSKA (1969), Polish screenwriter and director. She studied Japanese Studies at the UW and Film Directing at the Prague FAMU. Her documentaries have won several awards. Her debut was Hel (2009). The second full-length story "These Daughters of Mine" (2015) was a complete success in terms of participation and artistic work. The film won numerous prizes and awards both in Poland and around the world. "Back Then" – The director’s latest film is a prequel to "These Daughters of Mine", set during the period of the communist time in Poland.FILMOGRAPHY
