DESCRIPTION
Maya is a volunteer at the Way-Home-Phone, a service for anyone who feels unsafe on the way home at night, and would like a reassuring voice to accompany them through the night. One evening, she receives a call from Lea, who shortly before had an unpleasant encounter with a stranger. At first Maya wants to have the usual conversation with her, but soon it turns out that Lea is being followed by the stranger. Maya now tries everything to help her. But she has no idea that this call will also change her life forever.
DIRECTOR
— TAMARA DENIĆ (1992), born in Ex-Yugoslavia and currently doing her master's degree in film directing at Hamburg Media School. In 2016, she graduated with a bachelor's degree in art and multimedia and a minor in media informat-ics at LMU in Munich with an interactive, experimental short film that was exhibited at Muffathalle. After that, Tamara worked as a dubbing recording manager, film production and editorial assistant and video editor in Berlin. At the same time, she acted in independent theater groups and experimented with video performances. However, Tamara soon devoted herself increasingly to narrative and documentary short film projects. Her works explore themes of femininity, sexism and political repression and are influenced by her own migration background, with a particular focus of female identities. Tamara is mesmerized by the subtle unconscious, as well as the scurrility and absurdity of human nature. Along side her film projects, paintings and photographs, Tamara experiments with animations and VJing. She currently holds a scholarship from Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation.
