DESCRIPTION
Srebrenica, 1995. There’s a war going on. Aida is a teacher, she works as an interpreter for the United Nations. Despite its “security status”, a town Srebrenica is captured by Serbian troops. Aida’s family and thousands of villagers seek refuge in the UN camp in the face of a deadly threat. Jasmila Žbanić’s gripping narrative about one of the darkest sides of the war in former Yugoslavia from the perspective of the tragedy of civilians. The burden of the cruelty of war and the inaction of the “blue helmets” has been borne for decades by women who have lost more than 8000 loved ones in Srebrenica.

DIRECTOR
— JASMILA ŽBANIĆ (1974), director and screenwriter. She was born in Sarajevo, where she studied directing at the Academy of Fine Arts. She worked as a puppeteer in the USA and later worked as a film producer in her hometown. Her first feature film "Grbavica" (2006) won the Golden Bear at the MFF in Berlin. Her next film, "On the Path" (2010), also premiered in the Berlinale Main Competition, and "Quo Vadis, Aida" (2020) was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Non-English Language Film category.FILMOGRAPHY
