DESCRIPTION
The director couple – even in life – takes up the story about the great things of life, of love, friendship, the relationship with nature and the return to the roots and expresses it with small, almost imperceptible gestures. The screenplay is based on the Italian novel under the same title by Paolo Cognetti. A story about a friendship between two boys that is based on mutual respect, and that stays when they grow up. Pietro is the unsatisfied searcher, the wanderer who is always curious. Bruno is the man who relentlessly climbs his one huge mountain, focused, wholehearted, stubborn.

DIRECTOR
— FELIX VAN GROENINGEN (1977) is a Belgian film director, producer and screenwriter. He studied Audiovisual Arts at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KASK). After graduating, van Groeningen directed several short films, wrote and directed several stage plays. He became widely known for his film "The Broken Circle Breakdown" (2012) which earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film. In 2018, he made his English-language debut with biographical drama "Beautiful Boy" (2018), and his latest film, co-directed with Charlotte Vandermeersch "The Eight Mountains" won the Jury Prize at the Cannes.— CHARLOTTE VANDERMEERSCH (1974), a Belgian actress, screenwriter and director. She graduated the Herman Teirlinck Institute in Antwerp as a Master in Dramatic Art. She played in numerous theatre productions and leading roles in TV series. In 2016 she had a leading role in "Belgica" by Felix van Groeningen. "The Eight Mountains", which she co-directed with van Groeningen, is her directorial debut.
